Have you ever had green juice? Green juice basically just refers to a juice or drink that is made with mostly deep green vegetables.

When you first begin to learn about what kinds of foods you can use to make your juice, it might seem like there is a lot to learn, but it is surprisingly simple if you follow a few basic rules. To make the process even easier for you, this post will be including a few very simple recipes that you can follow to make healthy juice at home that your whole family can enjoy.

 Super Spinach Green Juice

Spinach is a leafy green vegetable that has been very popular for years. It’s super high in iron and has a host of other benefits for your body and can help to keep your from having a major crash in the middle of the day. Spinach is also a really great source of calcium that your body can easily access. Simply take about a cup of spinach and juice it with a sweet potato and a green apple. This is another great morning drink that will not only energize you, but help you protect your blood sugar levels as well.

  Bedtime Green Juice

If you have trouble sleeping this might be a perfect recipe for you. Romaine lettuce is full of important trace minerals, but the thing you’ll be looking for here is lactucarium, the sap of the lettuce. It has a relaxing effect on the body and will help you to be able to rest better. Just take about 2 celery stalks, 3 romaine hearts, half of a lemon, and a green apple (apple is optional if you enjoy a bit of sweetness). Juice the vegetables, and you’ll be off to sleepy land in no time at all.

 My Go-To Green Juice

Here's what I make most the time. I enjoy the fresh taste and even though the only fruit is lemon, I promise it's delicious. You won't miss the fruit and your blood sugar will remain stable.

A big bunch of parsley, juice of 1 lemon (start with half and add to taste depending on the size of the lemon), 4 celery stalks, 1/2 big English cucumber or 1 Mediterranean cucumber, 4-6 baby marrows (or half a big marrow).

Selecting a Juicer

Juicing is different to blending. Juicing removes all the fibre and only the juice remains. Blending into a green smoothie includes the fibre. Both are fantastic for your health depending on your outcome.

If you decide to make the life-changing commitment to juicing's regularly, I recommend investing in a good juicer. A high quality juicer ensure the antioxidants in your juice last. If you can borrow a juicer or purchase an entry level one that's a great start.

My favorite juicers are masticating juicers.

Masticating or slow juicers crush or 'chew' the fruit or veggies at a slow and steady rate, pressing the juice and nutrients out. The juice trickles into one compartment, while a rotating grinder pushes the 'cud' out the other end into another compartment.

Centrifugal Juicers or Juice Extractors, process the fruits and veggies like a high speed grater. The circular motion forces the juice, which is lighter, though a mesh chamber to the outside walls of the juicer while the pith, which is heavier, is expelled into a different chamber.
